Two Sandhill Cranes

British Columbia, Canada

When I was taking this photo of two Sandhill Cranes ( Antigone canadensis ) some nearby ducks became very noisy and upset when they spotted a mink. The Sandhill Cranes looked on wondering what all the fuss was about. These birds are known for their dancing skills. Courting cranes stretch their wings, pump their heads, bow, and leap into the air in a graceful and energetic dance.
